Abdomen CT
Preparation for abdominal CT often requires the consumption of a contrast fluid to help see the lining and wall of the bowels. An IV injection of contrast may also be needed. This helps to define the blood supply to the different structures in the abdomen.

Chest CT
Usually there is no preparation required for chest CT. IV contrast is often used to delineate the structures of the heart and blood vessels. CT is the best method to look at the fine structures of the lung.
